There is .exe support via Wine, the Linux Windows compatibility layer. It isn't perfect (a lot of video games are no good, for example - multimedia is its weakness), but it can run a lot of core applications. I don't remember by default Ubuntu very well, so I don't remember if Wine comes installed, but if not, a simple

Code:
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install wine

in the terminal should do it. Or, you can use the graphical package manager (I heard the latest version of Ubuntu doesn't use Synaptic anymore, and I don't know much about the current one) to search for it.

Thanks, I'll look into it. I'm interested in Ubuntu, it seems like it could be the superior OS with a little more third party support.

Agreed. If Adobe would put their creative software on Linux, I would give up Windows entirely (I have a Windows desktop SOLELY to run Adobe Lightroom 3 - I don't use a virtual machine because high-power photo development and post-processing are such resource hogs).

I use Windows XP, since Gaming is a core aspect of what I use my computer for and XP offers some degree of control along with being a decently solid OS.
I have used other operating systems in the past, like Ubuntu and Fedora (which I really enjoyed) but sadly that computer is long gone and I just haven't been bothered to try anything new or to go back to anything, but sometimes I do miss Fedora.

I use my computer for work and personal use. Its a pretty substantial machine the only downside is my graphics card which I need to upgrade soon but don't feel like wasting the money on it.

I have an amazingly bad run of luck with computers. I once spent a year or two diagnosing a cursed case, back when I solely relied upon Windoze [oops... "accidentally" spelled it wrong Wink ] Since Hubby introduced me to the new Macs, I've killed two Mac Minis and a laptop.

My old Windoze PC is currently borked beyond belief. Needs new monitor, KB, mouse, just to be able to turn it on and try to fix it. Everything needs updating by now, and I only keep it around to play certain games on (coughMapleStorycough)... and even THEN I constantly battle with the old fave BSOD.

All that said, I do prefer Mac OS. It's so... hassle-free. It just goes.

Most of the time.

I mean, it took me ten years to learn that I shouldn't run fifty bajillion programs simultaneously...

My grandfather gave me this computer. It runs on Windows Vista and has a 455 GB Harddrive. Believe it or not, I love it and it runs extremely fast.

IT Nerd Bronies? Epic!

I use W7 as my OS, but I don't believe in restarting my machine, which is why I use Windows 2008 and Ubuntu VM.
